Overview
The Sonican is a smart study assistant designed as a sleek spray paint can, seamlessly blending creativity with technology. Equipped with a nozzle that projects anything the user needs—from diagrams to videos—it connects effortlessly to devices via Bluetooth, making it a versatile tool for studying. In the simple, functional space I created for my persona, "Lo-fi Girl," the minimalist room serves as a creative outlet, allowing the Sonican to enhance focus without distractions. With its built-in speaker, the Sonican also sets the perfect atmosphere, playing personalized background music or study beats to complement the user's environment and study style.
Process
The process of designing the 3D model of the room in Rhino3D began with creating a basic floor plan to establish the dimensions and layout. Using Rhino’s precision tools, I built the room’s walls, ceiling, and floor, ensuring all elements aligned correctly. I then refined the space by adding essential objects like a desk, chair, and window, focusing on minimalist design to match the functional aesthetic of the "Lo-fi Girl" persona. Rhino's surface modeling tools allowed me to experiment with smooth surfaces and clean edges, giving the room a sleek, uncluttered feel. Lighting was added using Rhino's rendering tools, where I adjusted the intensity and angle to simulate natural light filtering in late in the afternoon. I wanted to create an inviting yet moody and creative atmosphere. Throughout the process, Rhino3D's real-time preview allowed for iterative adjustments, ensuring the space was both visually balanced and conducive to creativity and focus.
