Context

Safe and Equal is a leading organization in Victoria, Australia, dedicated to addressing and preventing family violence. As the peak body for specialist family violence services, Safe and Equal advocates for the rights and safety of victim-survivors, particularly women and children, who are disproportionately affected by domestic violence. The organization provides leadership, support, and coordination across Victoria’s family violence sector, working closely with government bodies, community organizations, and policymakers to improve the system's response to domestic violence.

Through public awareness campaigns, training programs, and policy advocacy, Safe and Equal aims to challenge the root causes of family violence, such as gender inequality and power imbalances. The organization also plays a crucial role in shaping policies related to domestic violence prevention, providing input on state and national initiatives, and working towards systemic reforms that prioritize victim safety and hold perpetrators accountable.
