Overview
The 10-week internship I completed at Culturon was one of the most rewarding student experiences to date.
Culturon is an innovative biotech startup revolutionising cell cultivation. I worked within an interdisciplinary design and marketing team to strengthen the company’s brand identity and execute strategic marketing initiatives. My role involved creating graphic design assets, refining logo iterations, and leveraging web and social media analytics to inform branding decisions. This hands-on experience allowed me to contribute to Culturon’s visual identity while gaining insight into data-driven marketing approaches.
Our journey…
After all the icebreakers… we sat down and learnt more about Culturon and what Dr Stuart Fraser envisioned for his company. We began with a collateral review. After analysing existing marketing data and assessing the brand identity of Culturon, we presented our findings. We identified key strengths in Culturon’s branding while also highlighting areas for improvement. Our analysis focused on visual consistency, messaging clarity, and audience engagement across different platforms.
From there, we brainstormed logo iterations, color schemes, and typography choices, aiming to create a design that was both modern and reflective of Culturon’s biotech advancements. Additionally, we explored how social media trends and web analytics could inform our marketing strategy, helping us tailor content to maximise reach and impact.
As the weeks progressed, we transitioned from research to execution. I developed graphic design assets for digital and print media, including a cool 3D modelling project. My team members worked on designing social media posts, presentation templates, website designs and promotional materials, ensuring brand cohesion across all touchpoints. Our team continuously evaluated engagement metrics, adjusting our approach based on real-time feedback.
By the end of the internship, we had established a solid brand guideline for Culturon. Additionally, we had grown by hundreds of followers on linkedin! This rewarding experience not only deepened my skills in branding, marketing, and design, but also provided valuable insight into the intersection of science and business strategy.
